On Sunday, June 16th, 2024,
the Highland Glee Club and Firefly Band joined forces
to present a very special free concert
at the Hyde Bandstand in Newton Highlands, MA
Hundreds of gentle people joined us to welcome the summer with music of peace, love, and understanding: close-covers of rock and folk songs of the 60s and early 70s, with outstanding men's solo and harmony vocals, full live band, and pro sound.
It was the culmination of our concert season, a thank-you to our community, and most of all, a wish for peace.
Thank you to all who came!
On March 16th, 2024 at the War Memorial Auditorium of Newton's City Hall, the Highland Glee Club performed an afternoon of Celtic melodies to a packed house. Thanks to all who joined us! Highlights of the concert:
Thanks to all who came out to share with us the joy of the season! Our musical feast for the soul featured Renaissance music and carols for Christmas and Hannukah, works for men's voices by the great Randall Thompson, and our famous family singalong! We were joined by treble soloist Benjamin Sachs, who sang in both English and Hebrew. The music was followed by a beautiful reception, provided with compliments to all the patrons, press, and local politicians in attendance - our largest crowd yet. Truly a warm and wonderful holiday gathering!
The Highland Glee Club was joined by local G&S specialists Tom Frates, Ben Morse, and Lonnie Powell in a unique concert of the best songs for men in the canon. The concert also featured classic and lesser-known theatre music of Leonard Bernstein, including a set from his 1950 musical Peter Pan, with Mr. Powell as a gleeful, menacing Capt. Hook.
The Highland Glee Club donned their kilts and sang the National Anthem for some 2500 runners and onlookers, all in support of Athletes Unlimited, a charity that supports athletics for special needs children.
In this unique free outdoor concert, The Highland Glee Club performed an evening of close-covers of the best rock and folk tunes of the 60s with three- and four-part vocal harmonies, accompanied by the rock band Firefly
Part-songs by Schubert, operetta selections by Victor Herbert and Sigmund Romberg, and songs from the Great American Songbook by George Gershwin and Cole Porter. Featuring a performance by HGC '23 Music Award winner Eleanor Markey, violin.

Joined by Scottish fiddler Anne Hooper, the Highland Glee Club, born in the Highlands of Newton, sang songs from the Highlands of Scotland, and debuted their kilts!
