Highland Glee Club to Perform Mozart, Bach, Saint-Sans, Buxtehude at Dec. 4 concert
guest artist Hailey McAvoy, Vocalist will also perform
The Highland Glee Club (HGC) will hold its winter concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the First Baptist Church, 858 Great Plain Avenue in Needham.
The HGC will close out its 108th season with a variety of songs featuring music from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, J.S. Bach, Saint-Sans, Buxtehude and others as well as traditional carols and an audience sing-a-long.
In addition to a performance by the Highland Glee Club, we are thrilled to announce that concert goers will be treated to a performance by vocalist Hailey McAvoy of Natick.
Ms. McAvoy is pursuing a dual degree in Vocal Performance and Musical Arts at The Eastman School of Music. She has also sung and studied at the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria and the Colburn School in Los Angeles. A 2013 graduate of the Montrose School in Medfield, Hailey studied voice at the New England Conservatory during high school, citing the support she received from Montrose faculty as instrumental to her success. She recently returned to Montrose School as a guest performer in the first annual Spring Musical Showcase. She has sung numerous roles in opera and performed a variety of types of music on stage in multiple venues. We are excited to have her join us.
The HGC is directed by David Tiedman, music director of Pilgrim Church (UCC) in Sherborn, Mass., and is accompanied by Maxim Lubarsky, a jazz pianist with classical training.
Tickets for the show are available at the door or can be purchased in advance from HGC members. Groups (10 or more tickets) will find a discount at our website. General admission tickets are $20 each, with veterans and active military personnel receiving a $5 discount. Half price tickets are offered with a college ID and to members of the Greater Boston Choral Consortium’s member organizations. Children/youth under 19 are admitted free of charge.
