We’d like to thank everyone who came out to the New England Federation of Men’s Glee Clubs concert at Faneuil Hall on Sunday. The hall’s floor was filled to near capacity, with some attendees joining the choruses on the wings, and all four groups enjoyed singing for an enthusiastic audience.
After the Apollo Club, the Highland Glee Club and Boston Saengerfest each performed a brief set, we took an intermission and settled in to listen to the Coast Guard Academy Idlers, who proved to be real crowd pleasers with songs like Mary Mack and Whale of a Tale.
Perhaps the most moving piece of the set was the Armed Services Medley, as members of the audience who served in the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard stood up and were acknowledged for their service to our country.
After the Idlers’ set, all four groups joined together as one, forming a men’s chorus more than 100 members strong to sing “Let Mighty Oceans Roar” and “Brothers, Sing On”. It was a moving experience for all involved, and we thank everyone who played a part in making the day so special.
Special thanks to out to Peter Marx, for providing video of “Let Mighty Oceans Roar”.
