Highland Glee Club Music Scholarship

Each year the Highland Glee Club holds a competition for its Music Scholarship.  Winners in recent years have included incredibly talented vocalists and instrumentalists from the Metrowest area.  This competition is open to all male and female graduating secondary school students, who have shown evidence of exceptional interest and ability in music(vocal or instrumental) and who plan to continue the study of music in college or music school.

The Scholarship carries an award of $1500.  In addition, the winner will perform at the Highland Glee Club’s annual Spring Concert, held the last Sunday in April at The First Baptist Church in Needham.

Auditions for Scholarship candidates are typically held on Saturdays in the middle of March(precise dates and times to be announced).

Each candidate is to –

  • Write a brief letter of application – to include name, address, telephone number, music specialty, description of their musical background and  educational plans.
  • Obtain a letter of recommendation from their secondary school Director of Music/Fine Arts/Chorus/Band.

The deadline for receipt of the application and letter of recommendation is typically near the end of February.
